Important news about my photos.

It’s a good job this has happened before the cricket season starts.

I have just been informed by “imageshack” I have too many photos on their web site. From 1st March they are deleting all my older photos uploaded about 500, I have over 1200 on the Imageshack/Grockle web site so a lot of my older photos posted on Grockle will disappear. I am sorry about that I can’t do anything about it.

I have just registered with “Photobucket” they have no limit on the number of photos uploaded to their site.

Once I have worked out on how to use the site more I will post on this thread a few test photos (some I have already posted) to get the hang of it.

I may try and arrange my photos better on “photobucket” have a separate album for each cricket match it depends how much time it takes because my time is limited on each day of a match.

I will give more details when I have worked the site out.

Mike.

Your wonderful photographs are very much admired, and I am very appreciative (as I am sure we all are) of the many hours of hard work that you have put into making them available for us to view on here.

I sincerely hope that you are very soon able to resolve the technical aspects of the problem that you have encountered, and I am sure that we shall continue to enjoy the results of your efforts for a long while to come.

Thank you once again for all the sterling work that you have done in the past.

So they let you load them merrily for years and suddenly notice you're way over their limit? Or they've reduced their limits without any easement for those who are already over the new limit?

Either way it's a pretty poor show.

Yep they wanted $2 a month for unlimited uploads, I didn't know there was a limit.

This is the message I got on their web site.

You have 1290 photos stored. Since you're over the 500 photo limit you'll need to upgrade to a Premium account or you'll only be able to keep 500 of your recent photos. Older photos will expire on the 1st of March.

Mike, I can only agree completely with Clarence Parker's words.

Apart from the intrinsic pleasure of seeing your photos, they act as a link to Taunton for those of us who live too far away to come to many games, and I know many 'exiles' feel the same.

I should like to associate myself wholeheartedly with the comments made by Clarence Parker and Bobstan. Your photos are very much appreciated, Mike.

I echo the sentiments above, Mike.

As an exile that can only get to Taunton a couple of times a year, I feel closer to the action seeing your excellent photos.

Long may they continue!

Having seen you sitting there patiently near the covers or on Gimblett Hill benches, I hadn't realised the extent of your collection in 'Mikes Gallery'. I've always envied your skill in producing such excellent images of the action and the surroundings.

Mike

Do you have copies of the 700 you are going to lose?

I will check with SN to see if they have space to house those for you. We can't operate with your day to day stuff but they may be able to set up an alternative archive for the older ones.

Thanks for the offer Grockle but unfortunately I haven’t, I did have a folder labelled “old e/mail or web” that I kept them in, tidying up the hard drive one day I cleared out the folder thinking I wouldn't need them anymore.

Leaving 500 I estimate there should be the last two years available on here, I posted about 300 last year.

Even if I did still have them there wasn't much detail of each photo with the photo, all the detail was on the thread with each posting.

They don't offer you the option to upload them somewhere else? What kind of image site do these clowns run?

Don't they understand snappers and their addiction to their photos?

Three cheers for your continued efforts Mike - much appreciated, (especially by those of us too far away to get to H.Q. very often !).

Is there no download option Mike? That seems pretty poor.

Have you asked them for a download facility. If they knkow you have no other backup they might be amenable - even if you have to pay a small fee for the privilege.

I have just had a thought (I do sometimes) I have a backup computer that may still have the old web photos on it, I will check tomorrow.

If I have it wouldn’t be possible to link them to any of the old threads that has had photos deleted by imageshack after 1st March, what I will try to do is divide the photos into separate albums by Somerset players and upload them to the new site and give you all the link to the new site so you can look at them there.

First of all I have to see if I have still got them tomorrow.

Fiddly, I know, but are you able to download copies from the old site and then upload to the new one?

Yes it would be fiddly, I could right click on a full size photo and ‘save as’ but to do that with about seven hundred would be ………

I have found a lot of them on my back-up computer and I am going through them and trying to add more detail to them so they are understandable looking at them on the new web site. They will not be as detailed as I would like but it will have to do.

I am almost ready to add more photos to ‘photobucket’ but I wanted to make sure everything is working first.

Try this link and see what you think - [s1152.photobucket.com]

There is not much on there yet I will see if you get on okay with the link first, if it is okay Grockle can add the link to ‘Mikes gallery on the left.

There are two photos I have to turn around the right way up.
