Think this will need it's own thread if correct.

I wasn't the only one to point out that at most clubs the DOC and first team coach are not usually the same person.

That is specifically given as the reason, so I assume one departure, but two vacancies.

Lee Cooper not messing about!

The last sentence of the item on the Club website implies that one new person will be appointed to the joint role. I take that to be a grammatical error in the wording, and that two people will be appointed, a DoC and a HC. Chris Rogers must be in with a shout?

SP- He might have been the one with the knife, but yes, I could see Rogers as DOC.

When they say Head Coach is that a Batting or bowling coach?

Unsurprising I guess.

I've been more sanguine in my views of MM than many, (lets not forget he was in charge last year when we came within an inch of the Championship), but think this is the right decision for all concerned.

I wish him well with whatever comes next.

If we can get CR as DOC that would surely be a massive boost for us.

Strange timing, on the eve of Somerset`s most important day of cricket for many a moon.

Mike: I'd say either, but will have a bowling coach and a batting coach reporting to him - I think.

it's a head coach, Mike.

As in Somerset have been one man light for a number of seasons.

1 DOC 2 Head coach 3/4 Batting and bowling coaches, is the model most counties use.

Maynard was doing both 1 and 2.

Rumour has it that one appointment is jnternal the other external. Rogers must be in frame for one then . I wondered why he was doing the interview at close of play Monday .

Interesting bunch of candidates..... George seems to think Sarge coming back is favourite. Probably needed to happen and people were suspicious because of the lack.of comment from the DoC while lots of tweets about the Maynard Trust bike ride.

we will have two new positions, one of those to be named is employed elsewhere, as a question was asked on when they would start. But that does not imply that intend to promote one within.

we will know next week.

but surely if we want to sweep clean, then promotion for Kerr is not on the cards.

The rumours floating were 3 changes at the top but few expected this one..... another name was favourite.

This was probably the one hoped for but not expected because of the contract extension.

So....what an interesting winter. I suppose they couldn't leave this until the end of the game.

The reason for timing was, firstly they had expected this to be a three day match, secondly there are plans for a send off for Daz tomorrow, and MM said he did not want the announcement of his departure to overshadow this.

Earlier info about MM's departure may well have made a party tomorrow unnecessary at all.

I see George Dobell has now updated his article to suggest that Kerr will become head coach and Andy Hurry will take over as DOC.

@Grockle - who is Sarge?
