Well done to Tom Banton for his 100 in an England shirt today against New Zealand U19s on their home turf.

Howzat! Sir Viv Richards to get ‘hero’s pension’ [www.metro.news]

It was good to read that knowing he should be taken care of money wise for the rest of his life.

Almost as important, as Tractor might tell you, is the fact that he can import as much cider as he wishes duty-free.

I think Tractor should be given responsibility for making regular trips to Antigua equipped with the proper stuff and ensuring its safe delivery to the knight himself. He would then be required to taste it in Sir Viv's presence as a guarantee that it is fit for purpose.

We were told at AGM overseas player 1 was in hand, just formalities to finalise. Player 2 will be identified once all ipl cpl dates and squads were known.

Mr Cooper must know he cant charge £40 a ticket on the gate & not offer 2 overseas superstars to watch.
With an inevitable drop on T20 members due to scrapping platinum it is now far more important the paying public is excited by what is on offer.
£35/40 gate prices need to be worth paying.....

My T20 line up.....

SD Lewis Myby Hildy Andre Corey Trego RVDM Craig Jamie Dom

5 pace options plus Tregs
2 spin plus Myby

No passengers in the feild, 11 attacking batters. no rabbits, Dom would be 8 in most sides.

Max a sad omission but we have to keep Jack & Dom happy. With no turning tracks unlikely we play 2 champo spinners often so Dom has to play white ball

What a team that is WSM! IMO it is the weakest looking team we could put out since T20 cricket started.

I wouldn't pay 35 or 40 pence to watch them, let alone Pounds!

And no Max Waller? What the devil is he still doing on the staff then? I have been asking that question for years.

Good luck anyway.

A glass half - empty or a glass half - full?
Regardless, both glasses need filling up.

Would put Max in rather than Jamie (pace doesn't work very often in T20).

Have to agree with Tom, what is MW on the staff for if you don't use him for T20 - it is why he still has a contract I assume.

£40 on the gate is a hell of an increase seeing as it was about £20 2015-ish.

Not sure it's a good move but we will find out I suppose.

Corey needs a back replacement to be of any use to us.

We do seem late in naming our T20 Player (s) for 2018.
Is the club waiting to see the take up on T20 Membership, or has the clubs target players negotiations hit snags, (would not be the first time).

Other clubs seem to have named theirs.

And the impression was that we had names on pieces of paper and were just waiting for ink to be put at the bottom.

Selling tickets is based on advertising what is on offer and this is the time for that especially as we are being told that VitalityBlast tickets go on general sale on March 1.

Info by the end of the month? Are they holding back as an advertising tool for later in February? Maybe.

I am a huge Max fan.
BUT its a simple equation.
4 spinners is too many to keep happy.
Jack is the best 4 day spinner in county cricket so plays every champo game, agree?
RVDM is my 1st name on sheet for T20.
If we accept we are unlikely to be feilding 2 spinners on more than 3 or 4 occasions where does Dom play?
He is a huge prospect and we just cant leave him carrying drinks all summer.
He has to play white ball and plenty of it.
If that is at Max"s expense so be it.
I imagine Jack will be very keen on white ball games too as Sky is what increases your profile sadly.

Simple equation is 4 spinners is too many to keep happy, great for us but not sustainable.

Wouldnt expect you to approve of any line up quoted Tom, have we ever had a team good enough for you!

Jack may play 50 over but I highly doubt he will play T20. RvdM does not have to bowl, he would be in as a bat anyway so we have 2. Max has no real stock ball so he is a bit of a gamble for 10 overs but he does have a lot of variations for the 4 over version.

It's not a problem to give them all cricket. Add to that that no one we have fields like Max presently and we have him in the T20 side.

The maths still do not work though.
If Jack plays all red ball and max all T20 i dont see enough chances left to keep Dom and certainly RVDM happy.
WE may be happy with mixing them all up but individually at least 1 or 2 will be unhappy with the numbet of chances they get.
Jack & Dom we can't afford to upset.
They are next 6/8/10 years of our spin attack.

Then they double up in the CC - what's the issue? RVDM plays as bat and occasional spinner?

Neither Dom or Jack are guaranteed places- we don't have to keep them happy. They have to compete for their places and if RVDM is bowling better then he plays. They don't dictate. They earn theiir wages and then we are all happy.

Having players who are unhappy because they're not getting games is exactly the situation you want.

It's when you have a squad full of players who are happy because they're guaranteed a spot that you've got problems.

Mention earlier that we can only play one spinner normally.

If I was a selector I believe if you have at least two good slow bowlers they should always be picked - certainly at the expense of medium pace trundlers. The quicker the ball is bowled, the quicker it gets to the boundary, certainly in white game.

In the red ball game I am a great believer in a championship attack of an off spinner, left arm or leg break spinner, a couple of decent pace bowlers and if available a fast bowler, Hopefully one or two may be decent batters as well.

I think we are well placed at present, and it can only be complicated if two or three bowlers get picked for England.

The biggest disappointment has been Max who has never had an opportunity to try his middle order batting skills in the first team (remember he has scored some enormous innings in the second team). Also unfortunately he has never had the skill or patience as a leg break bowler (or a googly bowler who bowls a couple of leg breaks each over) to nail down a standard ball four or five times an over. Of course, every innings he fields in means that he virtually starts his batting with at least a 30 run bonus.

No of course we dont HAVE to keep them happy but if we dont every chance in time 1 may move on.

For me we need a medium term view.

Im selfish and love us having 4 quality spinners who all do a job for us.
But it just is not sustainable over next 2/3/4 years.

Im more than happy to play 2 spinners in champo but pitch dependent obviously. No sense playing 2 if conditions massively favour seamers.

In Apr/May i cant see us leaving out a Jamie or Timmy G to play 2 spinners on fresh early season wickets.

Lewis is a more pressing issue.
If im correct contract up Sept 18.
I believe if not extended by April he in theory becomes free to talk to other counties.
I cant believe we have made him T20 skipper if any doubt at all but we just cant not learn from Mr Hose situation.....

Im also keen to hear of him bowling again. Season is getting closer and only seen a few batting clips thus far.....

Can't agree we have 4 'quality' spinners

We have a T20 specialist who cannot yet be trusted to bowl 10 tight overs in one dayers after a number of seasons.

We have RvdM who is a little more than an occasional but predominently a spinning batsman and will be the one to make room if required.

We have a spin duo of some promise who can play in tandem. One of them 'may go' ? I assume you mean Dom? He won't and we will play him but one spinner does not decide a team in a UK summer.
