I see England Lions are playing a 16-a-side warm-up match in Jamaica at the moment. Is this the largest number ever?

Neither Dom nor Jack bowled or batted on the first day.

So having 16 a side seems to have been a waste of time then.

My reading is that it's eleven a side, and neither Jack nor Dom are playing. I may be wrong. I have a concern that a lot of fuss is made of players getting on a Lions tour, but that they end up playing very little meaningful cricket.

It must be frustrating being a spinner on the international development side of a country who does not seem to believe in the concept of a spinner being anything but an extra batsman who closes up an end occasionally in order to frustrate batsmen into hitting out against the mediocre seamer at the other end.

It is 16-a-side in Jamaica, but only 11 bat.

Jack Leach (1-16) and Dom Bess (1-23) only got 11 overs between them in the Jamaica innings of 236, coming on to bowl only when six seamers had already been given a go.

Lets be selfish!!

I do hope that Jack and Dom do well but not so well that they come under the close scrutiny of England selectors.

My fear is that Jack (potentially the best left arm spinner in England), Dom (potentially the best off break bowler in England) and Craig (potentially the ideal middle order all rounder alongside Stokes) will be called into the England team leaving us without any amonition for the Championship games.

England Lions match drawn.

Jack Leach came on first change in the second innings and took two wickets. [www.bbc.co.uk]

It must be a lie. Surely Jack ONLY takes wickets at Taunton!! (TiC)

Yes, well done Jack !

Less well done to the selectors of the Test squad.

It's easy to lose track of things when deferring to the superior knowledge of the selectors ( and to be clear I fundamentely do acknowledge that to be so in principle, what credentials do I have ?). On the Related thread LOL referred to Jack as being "England's finest slow left arm bowler". Out of interest, who is the finest of either arm ??

Cove has bee sting for England ODI squad against NZ, I assume because Plunkett is injured.

What is a bee sting? (apart from the obvious )

Great news, clearly made an impression in Oz.

Maybe not in initial contention for starting XI but we thought that in the ashes maybe.
Good to get out in the sun on grass anyway as prep for test series and then the big one April 20.....

JL 2-53 on day one of the latest unofficial 'Test' against Windies.

It's going to be hard work though, after a dismal effort by England with the bat. Jomel Warrican (8-34) again performing miracles.

So, Jomel Warrican (8-34) bowls left arm spin.

As does Jack Leach.

It might be excellent bowling in helpful conditions by Warrican, rather than a dismal batting effort by England,

I always think there's a direct correlation between the two- as in, an excellent bowling display tends to result in a string of low scores by the batsmen.

I blame the pitch, it's a good job the ECB is not in charge. (Sm100)

i wasn't having a go at Grizzly. All supporters (me included) can find ourselves being one eyed. Thus if Warrican bowls well it must be because England batted poorly, and didn't apply themselves. If Leach had taken 8 wickets it would probably be because he was unplayable, rather than any deficiencies in the techniques of the Windies batsmen.
