It was the pitch inspector's view as well on the two times they visited the press box to talk about their views.

On both occasions both inspectors said the fall of wickets had far more to do with batsmen not playing spin sensibly rather than the pitch giving a spinner an unfair advantage.

I certainly take the second point that going for shots you really had no need to play because you either have no idea where your stump is or you think the ball is so slow it will be easy to hit. Batsmen getting out to injudicious shot selection can't then blame it on the type of bowler they are facing. Also while they do it the bowler if he has any sense will hang the ball out there and let them slash at it.
