Yesterday,at the Seaxe Club dinner,Keith Mein had a messgae to read out before the dinner took place about our friend Diamond, with Richards permission and thanks to Keith for emailing to me,i repeat below for all to see.....

Middlesex CCC became a poorer club this week when we lost our beloved Diamond. We are a club of many members but it is a select few who are widely known, respected and loved as Derek Britton.
Derek was as straight as a die....Always happy to give you his point of viewand irrespective of whether you agreed or disagreed with him,he always treated you the same way-a smile,a handshake, the offer (or acceptance) of a pint and a quick drag on his fag.
if you ever wanted a proper opinion on where the club was going...right or wrong, you were always wise to counsel Diamond. He loved the club from the bottom of his heart, just as we all do.He was the sort of member that no club can afford to lose!

it is devastating that this loss came so soon and so abruptly.I still cant believe he has gone...but thank you Diamond for your support. You loved Middlesex County Cricket Club and the club loved you back.

My condolences to your family and friends
