England Make One Change for Second Test
By Three Lions
January 21 2021
England have made one change for the second test with Jimmy Anderson coming in for Stuart Broad.
The change was an expected one as England look to rotate and rest the two to keep them both as fresh as possible and keep them both going for longer.
The main surprise however is that Mark Wood keeps his place and is not rested. Wood has had a lot of injury problems and there has been a school though outside the England camp that he shouldn’t play two test matches in a row.
England obviously disagree and have decided he is fit enough to play in this one, meaning no place for Ollie Stone or possibly a third spinner.
The batsmen and spinners were always going to remain the same after the emphatic seven wicket win in the first test. The only changes were ever going to be amongst the seamers but only one change does come as a surprise.
I personally would have brought Stone in for Wood but with the spinners taking on the bulk of the bowling in this part of the world it was obviously felt that Wood can play again.
