Panic Stations on Deventerful Trip ( Part 1)

Cheers everyone

Barmy Kev reports on part 1 of 2 parter of a Deventer trip that had a major crises for a dedicated fan and the team.  There is also tales of imaginative use of pink tissue and some happy endings.

From the very start , the tone was set for the trip as organised by Beefy Tours. Beefy our tour guide arranged a 7am prompt meeting at the Champagne Bar St Pancras for celebratory drink before journey. Only problem was the bar didn’t open till 9am.  Worse still, Beefy with KenPr and Hobbo ( Yorkie fan who we met in Scarborough who decided to go on tour) arrive together 25 minutes late. We headed for check-in and of course then to a bar for pre journey drink. We were very settled there, but with not all drinks consumed there was a final call for our train. All round downing in one and picking up bags as we rushed for train. Anything left behind?

We get to our booked seats and discovered co-incidently next to us the London Leprechaun and two other Middx fans who requested to be anonymous for the purpose of this report. So we will call them Fred and Fred and also Leprechaun said would liked to be called Fred.

As the train was literally leaving the platform,  Kimmy discovered her mobile phone wasn’t with her, presumably left at the bar. Oh dear or words to that effect. Using Beefy’s phone Kimmy tried to contact T Mobile, but they hung up as Kimmy couldn’t compete against long announcements in French and a series of tunnels that lost signal. We were trying to find the number for the station bar, then a brainwave Kimmy remembered putting a receipt for the coffee in her purse and the number will be on there. But now the purse can’t be found and must have gone missing with phone. Double oh dear. On making further necessary phone calls and rummaging through her bag it was discovered the Euros were with her in a separate holder, some consolation. Later, much to our relief,  the guard told us the phone was handed in to lost property at St Pancras, they didn‘t know about purse. Mr Kimmy was able to get to Lost Property that day and as we arrived in Deventer we heard the phone and purse were handed in all in tact and safely collected.  “Thank f for that” was the words used I believe.

On the journey we learn about another crisis. Fred Leprechaun heard that the plane the players were due to fly on had been cancelled and not replaced. They were stranded at Gatwick with no Plan B. We were working out between the 8 of us on train and 4 re-enforcements we knew out there, whether we could form a squad. Hobbo volunteered to be drinks carrier. We heard we weren’t needed as were able to get a plane 6 hours later , but their practise had been scuppered.  Fred or was it Fred suggested we used the airport runway for a net.

One bit of light relief was Kimmy producing some toilet paper in Middlesex pink. I suggested putting Seaxes on it give true Middlesex flavour. Kimmy had a block on how to draw the Seaxes but had idea of using Beefy's Middx shirt as stencil.

One for next year caption competion?

Excitement too much for some

We arrive at hotel and straight away planned our night out starting at 4pm.  Ex committee member Andy West was checking in just as we were leaving and decided to join us.

Cheers

Most of the conversations, songs and dancing that followed cannot be reported here for legal reasons. Kimmy, has threatened to put some on U Tube and we should all be very worried. All may be revealed later.

What I can print is had a very good night was had by all. The mixed grill we ate we all agree was best ever.  Kenpr was having a good eye for venues. Beefy was swiftly liquidated as tour leader. This was until we were lost on journey home, we realised Beefy had the map and we hadn’t a clue where to go. Temporay re-instatement. The route back was scenic but we got to our hotel eventually.

Part 2 of the next day to follow. Will report on did we make it to ground? Did the players?  Did we make it back from our night out. And some details about the cricket.

Drinking at breakfast time again? drinking smiley. As for the thought of the holy Middlesex badge appearing on toilet paper, personally I would prefer the Surrey badge to feature. Anyway, I enjoyed reading this report, and I am glad that kimmy got her stuff back.

I have been too busy this evening to read Beefy's report of the trip or watch ">kimmy's YouTube video, but I plan to perform the former task on completion of this post (I will have to find time to watch the video, as there aren't many moments when I feel able to turn the TV down and watch videos). The Facebook reaction to the report can be found here and the Facebook reaction to the video can be found here.

I enjoyed reading the report and watching the video, and I am sure that people stumbling upon this report in several years time will appreciate links to them. It seems like I am missing out on a lot by seldom drinking alcohol!

Lesson Kimmy, never leave mob on tables. Being handed in was a bonus.

Just shows there are honest people about.
