Here Comes The Rain Again and Again

Damp squib today

Barmy Kev reports on very little cricket, then again some might say there is as much cricket material here on his report as a full days play.

Having two previous Uxbridge reporters travelling from Bristol with troubled journeys arriving in good time for their duties. I had a smooth journey from Edgware, but still managed to arrive ½ hour late. In fact had game been at Bristol I would have probably been early.

The first ½ hour is down to Hackneyshire/Dasher Denning updates. “ Came on, went off, attempted to come back on, went off , came back on. 50 partnership for Glaws”. I arrived at ground with rain drops and smoke in air. I saw the 400 up, wicket looks docile, fire engines arrive , but not in curry area. Starts to rain heavily, players off again. Hopefully not for long.

Early lunch,  Playing at Hoval on TV no rain there, raining heavily at Uxbridge.

3 hours later Beefy spots blue sky ahead. Stops raining hour later. Early tea, pitch inspection 4pm ,covers off, then it rains again covers back.

Stops raining start play 4:30. Back on for 8 balls, 1 run and bad light intervenes. Then more rain , no morecricket

I watched a game of football Middx v Glous, with Hamish Marshall in our side and Fletch in goal. I left with us winning 1-0. We lost 2-1. From my Ceefax view I blame the keeper and Scott Newman

Breakthrough curry night to follow.

Who says County Cricket in rain is boring?

You mean Scott Newman wasn't the keeper? I can't imagine why...

What a perfect match report, caught all the action really well.Missed the lightning(or,as the reporter called it...nightling),hailstones and the smoke from fire drifting over the ground.Peter the icecream went home early due to lack of trade.
At one stage, the sun did come out,but that was someone reading the newspaper!
