Another rainy day in Cardiff town...

Yep, you know...

September 9 2011

This will probably be the shortest report ever.....Kimmy tells us about another day of no play and be best gesture a man can give! Read on....

Spillage and I wake to a damp Cardiff... We get up and meet Beefy for some breakfast in the pub (and no, we had a cuppa!)

After that we meet up with Lower Pavilion and head to the ground. We meet Welsh Dave, Diamond and Seaxe man to be told that the covers are still on and there is a delay to the start.....

Which goes on all day... There is lots of breaks in the rain, but apparently not long enough for the ground staff to get the covers off...

We pop to the local pub for lunch and then come back to the ground... I have a wander round the ground with spillage to show him the very narrow side beside the river....

At about 3.40pm the game was abandoned for the day (again!)

I was gutted! Spillage and I had decided we wanted to go to days 2 and 3 but because I didn't sort my leave in time we went to days 1 and 2 instead. We were due to go home... However walking to the pub spillage told me that he would pay for me to stay the extra night (he would have to leave to feed the cats!) and then I could go home with LP.. I could have cried! Having wasted 2 days (although they were GREAT with everyone!) I'd seen no play... Things were quickly sorted out (including a trip to the shops to buy more clothing!) and I was set!

Now some will say Spillage just wanted a day to himself at home, but he was gutted not to be staying!

We spent a great evening in The Cottage pub (especially for Seaxe man!) Then it was time to bid a fond farewell to Spillage as he caught his train home... A couple of beers later and we all went our separate ways (again!) to wait with baited breath to see if the weather held for day 3!

Thanx 4 the report Kimmy. Between this and the match thread, 1 gathers the crowd thought play should have been possible?

Indeed Vic many of us did including the locals but with the wind speed and the changability of the weather (not to mention a money spinning ODI next Friday) I reckon they played safe.

Dry with blue skies down here at the moment.

On the plus side, they did play through some light rain for parts of yesterday, and some marginal light, so maybe there was some unoficial benefit of the doubt to us yesterday.

Trouble was,and has been mentioned, was the lack of speed with the groundstaff. At times,if they decided to actually move,we could of got some play. Both teams were on the outfield warming up and we are sure some play would of been possible.its not a dig at the groundstaff, who did a great job getting play possible yesterday, just saying how it was!
The amount of rain was just crazy, even as we left SM's new favourite pub it was still chucking it down and the playing area near the edges was like a rice paddyfield.

Day 3 report just sent to MTWD Admin for vetting. It might be rubbish but it'll be more than the Telegraph wrote about yesterday's excellent proceedings...ie nothing!

Sadly not. The pub crawl that Les and I were planning was curtailed by the late finish. A quick guzzle in The City Arms and a dash to the station.
