Always look on the bright side of life... de dum de dum de dum de dum dum
Always a good read, look forward to the next instalment, could try same with a steward or memeber of staff as well?
Obviously Dex and Rogers are 1/2 as county captains at the moment but do we read into this that Scollay is the preferred option as next in line for the captaincy?
Strauss (significant availability this summer)
Morgan (never know....)
Rogers
Denly
Robbo
Rogers
Malan
Simmo (ahead of Rossington)
Dexter
Stirling (perhaps)
Berg
Newman (when back from Kent)
So that makes 12 people for, probably, 7 slots in the team. Ok, in the early part of the season, it's 9 but even then it's hard to see where these players are likely to get much first team cricket. Indeed, later in the season when Strauss/Newman and possibly Morgan are available, I can't even see who would drop out of the side to make way for them - Denly and Dexter probably based on last season's form but who knows who will be in or out of form by then???!!!
I have long been uncertain of Scollay's place in our batting pecking order, although if can score lots of runs for the 2nd XI and for Eastcote, then he would surely become closer to the first-team. He seems to be on the fringes of the one-day side, although I guess there are lots of batsmen ahead of him in the County Championship pecking order.
I wish him all the best in 2012.
