Should I stay or should I go now?
Never forgotten

I decided to take a 3 mile walk to the ground. Was reflecting on our bad season , 13 runs for 6 wickets and the 2s success yesterday. Then thinking if things go well for us I can potentially spend an extra day at one of my favourite cricket grounds.
I arrived ten minutes late with no runs added. There was an early drop by Robbo at first slip . Harris soon after got his reward bowling the dangerous Ackerman for 3. Biggest applause of the day was when right hand side scoreboard finally got the right score 11-2. Runs were drying up. Oh Dearden out for 6 having batted for 1 1/2 hr. A surprise change of bowling Max Holden dibbley dobblies 2nd ball sent Cosgrove for early lunch although I chose not to mention this to him as he passed my way. Two balls later a shout that looked more out not given. Very strange Max taken off after his successful 1 over . 56-4 at lunch we are back in game.
An early wicket after lunch I’m thinking staying over a definite possibility. After that there was an annoying 50 stand from Raine and Dexter making my mind up on any overnight change of plans. Hang on a wicket Raine caught behind with umpire taking an age to make mind up much to Raine’s fury. Then Dexy stumped off of Murtagh Simmo standing back never seen wicket like this before. Lead now 332-7. Parky plum LBW and I’m checking my Expedia App. Again too many late order runs a delayed tea. That 30 run last wicket stand was painful . So It’s 380 needed
Tea I fancied a pie. They sold out. Cosgrove is off field when play resumes. Just saying.
If we have a session with one wicket down I’m. considering staying. With Holden out 3rd ball of I’m checking times of trains from Leicester home.
A 2nd wicket partnership of 50 give us some hope but I’m still going home tonight. Start the car to home as this was soon broken. Then as leaving the ground Mala is caught behind 72-3. The top tier of the Cricketers pub chant cheerio cheerio as I''m heading home .
It was a day we also remembered Diamond. Four of us were wearing shirts with Diamond etched on back which was poignant.
A Double Doiuble Diamond works wonders

Used the Middlesex Lounge in pub at lunch as usual, and found the balcony for a good view of the ground.
Always a friendly crowd at Grace Road, and had a few questions as to why having Diamond on shirts. Those that asked thought the idea was fantastic, and a great tribute to our friend.
Good drive back,90 mins maximum door to door.
Return tomorrow? Thought about it,but.....
I was with an ardent Middlesex fan at time our phones confirmed a win. We were offered complimentary champagne at the event.
One thing I did not mention on report Harry was fielding by us during that irritating last stand. He was open to chatting and I mentioned to him he will need innings of his life to give us a chance. Now the rest is history.
Glad to see MTWD have sponsored Martin Andersson in memory of Diamond.
He continues to do well in the 2's, and might get his first team debut this season.
