Central Contracts System Shake UpThe ECB have announced
changes to be made to the central contracts system, with the number
allocated rising to 20.
Between 10 and 16 of the contracts handed out will be for a period of 12
months (so effectively for the summer matches and for the winter tours),
and will be handed out at the start of October.
The rest of the contracts will be for a period of 6 months, and will be
handed out in March or April of next year.
The First-Class Forum and the ECB struck the deal at Lord's on Monday, and
the increased number of contracts will allow coach Duncan Fletcher to keep
a closer eye on the fitness of his players, something that has become a
major worry in recent months.
