England’s meteoric rise over the past 9 months was captured most emphatically in the release of the updated ICC test rankings for July.

The PWC compiled ranking system placed England above fancied rivals the South Africans and the Indians, something that would have seemed impossible to fathom less than 12 months ago when messrs Smith, Gibbs and Kallis were treating England like little more than a club side.
However, since then the rise of Steve Harmison and the return of Graham Thorpe have helped solidify this team and add a new found purpose………now only if the same could be done for the one-day side!
