Pietersen shines again

Kevin Pietersen was the star again as he showed the Edgbaston crowd what he is all about by scoring a truly exciting 142. The crowd were entertained by Pietersen's innings and England again dominated the day.

Pietersen started off by scoring his personal quickest 50 and was the first England player since Graham Gooch to hit three tons in successive home Test innings. He looked on the form of his life as he shocked everyone by hitting a massive six reverse sweeping a ball.
But the day didn't start on a high as the game was delayed after 80 minutes of rain.
Collingwood contributed 19 to the score while Pietersen played the strikeman with him.
England would have been a little disappointed by the poor batting performance in the lower order.
But England came out strong and Hoggard picked up his first wicket in his first over. Then Monty Panesar came on the scene and lifted the team by picking up two wickets. Monty looked low of confidence before he came on to bowl but when he got the ball in his hand he looked like he'd been playing for years. He troubled the Sri Lankan batsmen and we began to get on top again.
England are in the driving seat but we all know Sri Lanka can change their ways but lets hope we continue to perform tomorrow.
