Yorkshire claimed their first County Championship win of 2006 in emphatic style against Durham. After setting Durham an improbable 394 to win they skittled them out for 258. Jason Gillespie took 6-37.

Yorkshire took maximum points against Durham by sealing victory within three days. Aussie Jason Gillespie, who has struggled to find form this summer, answered critics with a devastating spell of bowling, taking 4-7 off 16 balls at one stage.

Earlier Darren Lehmann (49) batted with a runner to boost the Yorkshire total.

Durham, chasing 394 to win, were reduced to 79-4 before Benkenstein (96) and Breese (63) added 126 for the fifth wicket. Any thoughts of a Durham comeback were quickly quashed by Gillespie and victory was sealed in the last scheduled over of the day at 7.20p.m.
