2 Debuts and 1 Cap - Yorks v Warwicks, Day 1

Yorkshire looked to the future on the first day of the Championship match against Warwickshire at Scarborough and that future looks bright. Whilst Rashid and Patterson made their first class debuts Tim Bresnan was awarded his county cap.

Bresnan then produced a spell of bowling of 3-5 in 13 balls that helped to reduce Warwickshire to 201 all out and placed Yorkshire in command.

It was a day that will be remembered for the debuts of Adil Rashid and Steve Patterson (who picked up a wicket apiece) and for Bresnan's cap. Tim has had an up and down season. A decent start for Yorkshire saw him thrust into a fragile England one day set up. It was disappointing that he failed to show his talent on the bigger stage. But what is England's loss is Yorkshire's gain. Many players have faltered after disappointing England starts but Tim has got his head down and is now bowling as well as ever, and for that he must take credit.

Warwickshire reached 49-0 without incident before Bresnan's spell and then that of Jason Gillespie (3-3 in 21 balls).

The gloss was taken off Yorkshire's success when a last wicket stand of 79 between Streak and Harris enabled Warwickshire to scrape to 201. Heath Streak finsihed on 69 not out. Rejuvinated Jason Gillespie had figures of 4-52.

At the close Yorkshire are 122-2 with Joe Sayers 63 not out.
