Dawson's Days Numbered?

Richard Dawson, once an England test player has failed to recapture any kind of consistent form this summer. Is it time for the 26 year old to look for success elsewhere? How long can Yorkshire support him?

Dawson played 7 tests for England between 2001 and 2003. He helped bowl Yorkshire to the title in 2001. At the time he was considered by many to be the future option for the England spinning berth. The problem is he has never kicked forward and finds himself now way behind Panesaar and Giles in the national pecking order.

Dawson faces a dilema. Does he stay with his county of birth, the county he has played for since 2000 or does he move on. The Headingley wicket gives him little assistance and his form this year is poor.

In 8 county matches this season he averages slightly more than ten with the bat, but his bowling has yielded just 8 wickets at a cost of 87.62 (a wicket every 147 balls).

Some have mentioned Dawson as a future Yorkshire captain, other fans appear to think his days of wearing the white rose are numbered.
