One Hales of a Day
Familar sight this season
By Beefy Roberts
May 9 2012
Beefy provides a truncated report via text of a truncated day. There is a familar story of us losing the toss and unfavourable weather. There are other Beefy bits for your entertainment.
First news Middlesex lost toss for a change. This time we are not put in. TRJ injured. Ollie in for Corey (12th man for his fielding)
First ball from Hi Fi at Pav End. A wicket Edwards bowled 0-1. Can it get any better? EDITOR'S NOTE-SADLY NOT
Next bit of excitement some nutter in red coat sat directly behind bowlers arm not realising he was doing anything wrong. He had to get asked to move by Dexter.
We move to long room, which was much warmer. Wonderful place full of old players bats from 1800's. Seaxe man will remember them well.
45-1. 1st change Berg on for Finn. At 60-1 Dext for Murts and soon Finn for Dext. 94-1 Rayner on for Berg pavilion end. Hales/Lumb looking very comfortable and Hales a class act.

Oh well at least there's some play.
14:15 they turn on floodlights. This is the first time seen county game under lights.
Notts committe guy stops to chat. I hope you being looked after' gives us a verbal tour tells to visit library we do so. He kept asking everybody in there if they are OK. On person takes an age to respond yes.
14:30 players off for bad light and rain. At 132-1 heavy covers on floodlights off. At 17:00 it’s called off for day as heavy rain starts. I’m off for a beer.

Hopefully the three remaining days will give MTWD's reporters more to cheer than today.
Yesterday there were a couple of chances but Alex Hales got settled in after giving a few swipes in the 30's was told its how he plays!
Our lads were getting restless and using the indoor nets, its bad enough for us not watching but most frustrating for the team who just cant get outside.
The ground was open in all stands and was told the scoreboard in the corner nearest the County Ground was to be removed in the near future to be replaced by a state of the art new one, main reason given was it cant be seen in day/night matches its a shame as another traditional scoreboard will dissapear.
So,its fingers crossed we get play today as the weather forcast is supposed to be better, will wait and see..................
I also miss lower pavilion, as it is sad when posters decide to leave MTWD. He had his reasons for leaving, although they will probably remain a mystery to me.
Mitchy67 please avoiding posts that you well know maybe provokotive.
