Total wipe out.

Oh dear,another game bites the dust to our English summer.

LP had offered to do the match report for todays game between the Panthers and the Foxes and it was with a happy heart that I set off for Uxbridge from Hanwell at about 11:00am. Yes start time was 1:45pm but have you tried getting through Southall on a bus on Sunday? Lunch meeting had been arranged anyway in the Queens Head Windsor Street for 12:00 so I was already running late.

As expected it took forever to get to Uxbridge and on the way I got a text from Fletch saying "Game off :(", too late to stop as the 607 is a limited stop bus) I headed on in to town. Once off the bus I met Seaxe Man at the bus station and informed him the game was off,he was going to get a bus straight home,not a big beer drinker but he is 98 you know. Managed to let some other folks know as soon as Fletch told me (just before he tweeted it and put it on Facebook for all to see).

Met Kenny P and Phil in the pub,couple of beers and then hometime,not quite the way I had intended to spend my Sunday afternoon but unavoidable in the circumstances. To those that attended the Summer Party I hope you had a good time even though you saw no cricket. I am informed Gus was on good form in his Q and A session  even without a Murt's or Cory to play the straight man for him.

To all the guys and gals at Uxbridge CC all I can say is you tried but you can't beat the weather,and by Christ did you try.I wouldn't want the fuel bill for the sopper anyway this week. Still in the words of Arnie "I'll be back",Warwickshire in a Championship deciding game (with the curry night on day two) to come,the weather might be poor but it can not dampen our spirits. Up the mighty Middle!!

Journey home,not to clever,big festival weekend in Southall so buses at a crawl,so much so I had to break my journey at the Hambrough Tavern for a "Coops" visit,not to check out the architecture....I needed a wee!! This was my first watering hole as a 14 year old,burnt down during the Southall riots and much changed since. I would have been drinking in there that night had I not been on late shift at Sainsbury's in Hayes Town when some of the residents took exception to the band that was appearing  and firebombed the old place to the ground ( and an LFB turn table ladder to,google search the image it's frightening).

Back on the buses and home to a very suprised wife as I'd told her yesterday I wouldn't be home till gone 8pm.

Here's hoping for a lot better weather next weekend.The transport should be slightly better though as we are on "Beefy Tours" out of Paddington to Cheltenham, oh dear,more beers in need of consumption.
