By Rogers and Out, QPR Chris quotes with Seaxe Man chipping in
July 27 2016

todaysreport is Barmy Kev quoting from Rogers and Out (R&O) , QPR Chris ( QC ) with some classics from Seaxe Man thrown in.

Phoney start to day. Weather: QC: "looks like rain this afternoon". According to R & O phone "dry weather"

QC has Middlesex Twitter feed " Somerset won toss and have surprisingly elected to bat" Agreement about toss but R&O states from cricinfo they have gone for fielding option.

QC: "my return train leaves 18.36 what shall I do if this goes to the wire"

Train arrives Taunton 10.53. We discover Higgins opening  as walking to ground . R@O "he is not an opener and will be out by the time we arrive". Still there and part of solid stand when out for 39 from 55 balls "this probably in our interest".

QC: Gubbo "not really I day batsman living off glory of Sussex last year." When out for a rapid 89 "what a great innings"

130/3 in 30th; R&O: "well set for Gorgeous and Moggy to take us pass 300" Both out cheaply. It's 216/5 after 40. Predictions round Vermin Corner of score.

Lowest 270 from Barmy Kev to 320 from an optimistic Seaxe Man. 2 quick wickets and slow rate made this unlikely.

When Fuller in R&O: " come on JK show us some wizadry" 2 successive 6s takes us close to 300. QC thinks we are 20 light; R&O thinks we have enough. Seaxe Man thought: had JK come out before Franco and Ollie his prediction would have been near.

Innings break was at the nearby Weatherspoon's. Heading back to ground as reply starts. From QC phone: "a 6 and 4 off of Murts first over." Then Harris. R&O: "I'm fearing worse after all those no balls in county match."

QC: "dot , dot,, dot wicket."

In ground R&O: " Trego always does well against us". He scores a ton.

R&O as Mybrugh is injured: "we are man up". QC later: "we are not JK is off and can't see him returning".

Some gems from Seaxe Man:

As game looks tight QC: "I'm not sure what to do about my train.". "What a catch" as Moggy takes a stunner to get rid of Jayawarnde.

41 over from Harris this is close than quote from all: "xjyyy it" Moggy drops an easy one from dangerous Lewis Gregory and off same over "double xjyyyx it" another drop. QC soon after: "I'm off now", 47 over: no ball from Harris with Gregory on top we are all packing.

Journey with R&O for some reason I have no recollection of.

summed up well Kev n Co.
A damn good crowd, with a dozen Middle in the stand next to the Trescothick stand.
Not forgetting the 4 cider boys, who hardly watched a ball being bowled, but did good damage to the cider supplies!
Must report, also, the Fish n Chips in the ground was very good, and a good few of us had our portion.
At times,we all thought we were back at Scarboro with the seagulls flying around, only 1 near hit as well.
I think we really missed Fuller, who had a side strain and didn't appear at all for Somerset innings.

A good day out, apart from the result, and a comfortable drive home and good company with DB and listening to Radio 5 and an hour programme celebrating Sir Garfield reaching 80 not out.

Summed it up well Kev. Looking back. Always the best. Losing to the two weakest teams likely to be costly. Sussex 1 50 over win in 20, against guess who the Middle.

The bowling. Some overs wasted. Franko should have bowled his 10. Had a reasonable economy rate. Back to MEXIT again.

But we were always short of runs. On a good track like Taunton, not likely to win without a didgit 3 on the front of the final total.
