With leaders Notts in a rest week, the excitement was offered by the promotion clash between Middlesex and Glamorgan at Lord’s More on this game here on MTWD. Mark Stoneman scored 128 for The Middle and Toby Roland-Jones took 5 for 61 off 22 overs in Glamorgan’s second innings. Old Boy James Harris took 5 for 90 off 29 overs in Middx first innings
Middlesex (23 pts) beat Glamorgan (4 pts) by 10 wickets
3rd placed Derbyshire also had an off-week, so Worcestershire travelled to Hove hoping to make up some ground in the table. Sussex won the toss and opted to bat, only to see five wickets fall for 23 runs in 14 overs. There was a small recovery as Fynn Hudson-Prentice (51) and James Coles (54) put on 76 for the 6th wicket. A half century from Jack Carlson helped the home side to 220 all out. Worcestershire almost made it to that total for their first wicket partnership: Ed Pollock was out for 98 with the score on 195. Jake Libby went on to make a double century, falling for 215 with the score at 434 for 4. Four runs later Worcs declared for the loss of five wickets. Sussex fought back in their second innings with Tom Alsop’s unbeaten 137 leading his side to 312 for 6 to earn the draw in a rain-affected match in which 84 overs were lost to the weather.
Sussex (10 pts) drew with Worcestershire (16 pts)
At Leicester, Durham won the toss and put the home side into bat. It was a good decision as they bowled Leicestershire out for 202 with seven batters failing to score double figures. England’s Matthew Potts took 6 for 52 off 19 overs. Michael Jones scored 97 as Durham were all out for 296. Potts went one better in the second innings, taking 7 for 49 off 20 overs. Leicester’s batting was disappointing to say the least, Extras was second-highest scorer with 44, 30 byes and 20 leg-byes. Louis Kimber was 8th man out on 75, and their score of 198 only left Durham 105 to win which they did off 24 overs
Durham (21 pts) beat Leicestershire (4 pts) by seven wickets
