Middlesex CCC have have announced the release of a large group of players; Michael Brown is the latest name to get the "chop", David Alleyne, Alan Coleman, Joe Dawes, Ben Gannon, David Holt, Thos Hunt, Abdul Razzaq, Phil Tufnell and Robin Weston are all confirmed to be on "List II"

MICHAEL BROWN RELEASED

It has been agreed by both parties be Michael Brown be released from his contract with Middlesex CCC.

David Alleyne, Alan Coleman, Joe Dawes, Ben Gannon, David Holt, Thos Hunt, Abdul Razzaq, Phil Tufnell and Robin Weston have all been released and placed on List II.

What is "List II"?

4.4 Each First Class County shall, on or before 24th September in each year, send to the ECB and to every other County concerned in the County and Minor County Championships:

4.4.1 a list (List I) of all Cricketers, including Unqualified Cricketers, who either have a contract in writing to play for that County for the whole or part of the next season or, having had such a contract with that County for the season then about to end, have been offered in writing by that County a contract for the whole or part of the next season, and

4.4.2 a list (List II) of all other Cricketers who have had such a contract with that County for the season then about to end and/or are registered by that County.

This is why Phil Tuffnell appears on the list and he together with the others mentioned, David Alleyne (now joined Notts), Alan Coleman, Joe Dawes, Ben Gannon, David Holt, Thos Hunt, Abdul Razzaq, and Robin Weston.
