Middx swoop for Smith

Middlesex have today announced the signing of England test batsman Ed Smith on a two year contract. Smith, who won three caps for England last year joins from Kent, where he had a fall out with Andrew Symonds over the vice captancy. He will provide excellent cover for Andy Strauss and Sven Koenig.

MIDDLESEX SIGN SMITH

Middlesex County Cricket Club today announced that they have signed Ed Smith, Kent and England batsman, on a two year contract.

“We are delighted to have signed a top class batsman”, said Vinny Codrington, Chief Executive. “Ed will be a major addition to our squad. He has joined a talented and happy side, and believes that by starting a new chapter of his career with us, that he can help us win things and push to regain his place in the England set up”.

Ed Smith said “I am very excited about playing for Middlesex. I have been impressed by the organisation, and believe that I can make a major contribution. I had many happy seasons at Kent, but I needed a new challenge and a fresh start. I am delighted to be a part of this team”.
