Mike Smith dies of heart attack

Former Middlesex opener and more recently scorer Mike Smith has died of a heart attack aged 62. Born in Enfield during 1942, Mike summed up this websites name, playing only for Middlesex, making 18,757 runs in his 21 season career, playing 5 ODIs in 1973-74. He took over as scorer in 1994 when...

... Harry Sharp retired in 1994.

Details of his funeral will be announced next week.

It is with deep regret that we announce the death of Mike Smith, former Middlesex Player and Scorer, who had a heart attack earlier in the week and passed away. Details of the funeral will be notified next week when his daughter Debbie flies back from Germany.
