MIDDLESEX CAPTURE RICHARDSON'S SIGNATURE

Middlesex today announced that they have secured the services of Alan Richardson from Warwickshire on a two year contract.

Commenting on his signature, John Emburey said "We are delighted to have beaten off stiff opposition to capture Alan. The players have spoken highly of him, and this was a large part of our decision to strengthen our bowling attack. We are hoping he will make an immediate impact".

Richardson stated "I'm really looking forward to making a fresh start at Middlesex and hopefully be involved in a club that can carry on the success it achieved last season. Having been part of a championship winning Warwickshire side I don't see why Middlesex can't emulate them. We have a strong batting line-up and if the bowlers can back up Nantie Hayward then I'm sure we can improve on last year's position of fourth. The opportunity to play with a side that I've always considered to be very talented and call Lord's my home ground is too good to miss".

The successful capture of Richardson brings to an end the speculation surrounding his next club. Vinny Codrington, Chief Executive, pointed out that reports in the press from a couple of weeks ago were premature. "We had held discussions with Alan, but we were one of a number of clubs that had spoken to him" said Vinny. "Alan was keen to ensure that the proper channels of communication were adhered to, and we respected that decision. We had to await his confirmation that he was joining us which has now happened through a signed contract".
