Irfan Pathan joins Middlesex

Middlesex today announced the signing of Indian opening bowler Irfan Pathan as a replacement for the injured Nantie Hayward, who has a groin injury. Pathan has an average with the ball of 33.08 in test Cricket and 27.80 in the one day game.
Speaking about the signing, John Emburey said "Nantie will be unable to play for six weeks due to a groin injury, but we are delighted to have signed a world class bowler in Irfan as his replacement. He will be a major addition to the side".
He also confirmed that he had been asked by the BCCI to apply for the vacant role of coach of the Indian national side. "I was very flattered to have been asked to apply, particularly as other quality coaches have actually applied for the job and I didn't" said Embers "However, I want to win competitions with Middlesex and very much feel that the job here is not yet completed. We have a talented squad of players as well as an exciting group of Academy players, and I'm looking forward to helping their development".
Commenting on this Vinny Codrington added "John has helped create a fantastic atmosphere both in the dressing room and the club as a whole. We are delighted that he rejected the offer and once again demonstrated his loyalty to the club. Both John and his team of staff are building an exciting future and we are sure that he will be rewarded with a trophy soon!"
