Smith Fit to Lead South Africa

South African Captain Graeme Smith has been declared fit to lead a 15 man squad to England for the forthcoming three match test series between the top two test playing nations....

Smith had surgery on an ankle problem during April, and was forced to miss the lucrative IPL T20 campaign, but wanted to be fit to lead his men as they try to topple England in the much anticpated three match series that starts in July.

It means that the touring side will be the same make up as their winning squad that took to New Zealand just before Smith went under the surgeons knife.

South Africa Test squad to face England: G Smith (captain), H Amla, M Boucher, M de Lange, AB de Villiers (vice-captain), JP Duminy, I Tahir, J Kallis, M Morkel, A Petersen, R Peterson, V Philander, J Rudolph, D Steyn, L Tsotsobe.

CSA selection convener Andrew Hudson said: "Graeme has been outstanding both as our leading runs scorer and as captain during our last two Test tours of England and I have every confidence he will continue that form."

The left hander averages a superb 72 in England, and will be hoping to continue his fine form.
