England new ODI coach Ashley Giles has replaced one England batting legend with another, as he makes changes to his backroom staff, in the wake of the 3-2 series loss in India....

Now that England have two seperate coaches for test matches and ODI's (including T20's), Giles has replaced batting coach Gooch, with left hander Graham Thorpe.

England supremo Hugh Morris confirmed: “Graham Gooch is going to focus on Test match cricket and preparing batsmen for that format"

“Graham Thorpe, who has been working alongside the Lions as one of our coaches for the last 12 months or so, will be going to New Zealand as one-day batting coach."

“We’re very fortunate to have a very experienced one-day cricketer who has worked with a lot of the players who will be in New Zealand."

“He’s made a good impression as a batting coach and he is looking forward to the opportunity to go there.” concluded Morris.

Although Thorpe does not have a century to his name in ODI cricket, Giles is determined to stamp his authority as he gears the England Cricket Team towards the 2015 world cup.
