England v Australia - Line Ups
By Michael Norwood
July 10 2013
Australia sprung a surprise on the opening morning of the first test match at Trent Bridge, as they included Ashton Agar, a 19 year old left arm spinner alongside Steven Smith. It meant that both, who were not in the original Ashes squad, were thrown into action against England......
England opted for the pace of Steven Finn instead of Tim Bresnan, on a pitch bone dry thanks to the recent hot spell, but showing cracks that could open up later in the test match.
Alastair Cook won the toss and elected to bat first, after Michael Clarke called heads and it came down tails.
England: A Cook (capt), J Root, J Trott, K Pietersen, I Bell, J Bairstow, M Prior, S Broad, G Swann, S Finn, J Anderson.
Australia: S Watson, C Rogers, E Cowan, M Clarke (capt), P Hughes, S Smith, B Haddin, P Siddle, J Pattinson, M Starc, A Agar.
The weather is set to be overcast on Day 1, but warming up and a lot brighter on Days 2 and 3, with showers now forecast for Saturday.
