Surrey suffer second defeat

Surrey suffered their second defeat in the Frizzell county championship after a disappointing innings and 71 run defeat at the hands of Nottinghamshire. Mark Ramprakash was the oplny success for the lions he scored 107.
Surrey resumed 255 runs behind Notts with just four wickets in hand, with Ramprakash and Bicknell at the crease. Together they added 101 for the seventh wicket, with Ramprakash making 107. This was host hired century of the season and his 76th fist class hundred.
However with the score on 296 Surrey lost both batsmen. Fist Bicknell fell to Mark Ealham for a useful 59, his twenty third first class half century, and then Swann dismissed Ramprakash for 107. Ormond (35), Doshi (33) and Akram (27) delayed the inevitable with useful batting, which helped the lions reach 404,. However this was not enough as they suffered a heavy innings and 71 run defeat. At one stage it was looking like the lions may hold out for a draw as rain halted play. However it was not to be as Swann raped up the match after the rain break as he had Ormond caught behind.
Surrey would like to forget this match in a hurry as they were found guilty of ball tampering after the first days play.
