Another defeat for lions

Surrey suffered there fifth defeat in the tote sport league two as Warwickshire beat them by 49 runs at Whitgift school. Neil Carter, Jamie Troughton and Alex Louden all hit half centuries as the bears noticed up a huge score of 309.
Warwickshire won the toss and decided to bat and got of to a good start as pinch hitter Carter proved his worth at the top of the order as he put on a quick fire 96 with Knight for the opening stand. Carter was then first to go as he was caught by Saker with Akram the bowler. He scored 58 from just 36 balls, which included 5 fours and 4 sixes. Knight was next to go for 47 as he became Duncan Thornley first victim. This was Thornely’s debut after he joined as cover for Azhar Mahmood from New South Wales. Trott fell next to Saker for 9 and the bears wee 135 for 3. Troughton and Louden then added 107 for the forth wicket. Louden scored 54 from 52 balls while Troughton scored 69. A useful 25 from 12 balls help the bears reach a huge score of 309 from their 45 overs.
Newman and Benning then put on a useful stand of 42 for the first wicket. However the lions then lost Newman, pinch hitter Murtagh and Benning all in quick succession and were left struggling at 68 for 3. Things did not get much better as Thornely could only manage 12 on his debut. This left the lions in further trouble at 94 for 4. Brown and Ramprakash then added 92 for the fifth wicket. Brown fell for 52 from just 34 balls. The lions were looking ain a strong position at 186 for 5. Batty then added 44 with Ramprakash. But when Batty fell to Carter for 20 the rest of the Surrey batting did not put up a fight and Ramprakash was left stranded on 89.Mohammad Akram was last to fall as the lions fell short by 49 runs.
