Ah -squad just announced - last week's XI plus Woakes and Pope (after first two days of Surrey's current game). Would rather see Leach and Burns tried ahead of Rashid and Cook/Jennings.

Personally not concerned they're keeping the same squad. Bit of a poisoned chalice being brought in for one Test at the end of the summer. Have a bit of a mare and that's you out of the winter tour party.

True. I would much rather the Somerset boys push their inclusion on good Championship performances at the end of the season than do nothing wrong in the last Indian Test.

Somerset will win in three days and release Leach to replace Rashid.

I got that wrong in two respects: move over Rashid and make way for a proper slow bowler.

It seems that Ed Smith is not for turning.

Too much egg on face to drop Rashid now.

This one isn't important anyway so I think we'll cope with the disappointment

I don't know about the rest of you, but I've never scored a Test half-century on my 28th birthday. Warmest congratulations to the great Jos Buttler, one of the major successes of the Test Match summer.

Well done to you,Mike, though I suspect you are not quite as good at cricket as our Taunton-born boy. Enjoy your day.

They also mentioned Geoff Miller.

If only you were born a day later Mike, you could have shared it with Hildy

It's been a great Test Match so far - and the greatest thing about it has been the batting of Cook. Let's will him on to a century on Monday.

Given the imminent arrival of his third child, I don't suppose we shall see him playing for Essex before the season's end, but you never know - and you can be sure that his team mates and the county's supporters can't wait to have him back playing regular county cricket.

Sounds like we are looking for declaration runs just before Tea.

In his whole career Alistair only hit 11 sixes! We've nearly had that in one innings haven't we at Taunton? Did Gayle hit that?

Simon Hughes would pick both Jamie Overton & Jack Leach for the forthcoming Sri Lanka tour:

Astonished that he prefers James Vince to you know who !

Maybe he's been called up and said no. Maybe he said the same about being captain here?

We can probably doubt that Scrumper. Has that story ever been completely verified anyway?

Congratulations to Jack Leach on his selection to the England Test squad for Sri Lanka.

Let’s hope he takes a hatful of wickets !

Would also like to add a mention for Rory Burns - a thousand runs a season for what, the last 5 or 6 years. Who cares if he hasn't got a cover drive like James Vince that you'd like to take home to meet your parents, he's been churning out the runs and its about blooming time England took notice
