T20 isn’t geared for the traditional member in any way. Carnival must prevail.

It isnt marketed as such.
But as we were it worked as your traditional member had their area with like minded people.
I agree like it or not you shouldnt go to T20 if you cant accept carnival shouting beer swigging and general noise & disruption. Thats what it is.
That may not be popular to some but T20 isnt designed or marketed for your old style cricket watcher.
The club cant say it but they would much prefer the old style watcher who brings his flask and sandwiches to stay at home.
A group of 10 blokes paying £35 a ticket, drinking 6 pints in 3 hours and a burger at half time are what they really want.
NOT a loyal avid supporter paying their £140 category C membership & at best a £1 scorecard on arrival......

Well we'll see if they will listen. It seems to have been a Cooper initiative that had gone too far to be stopped if they had wanted to this year so it might change next, especially if more stewards are needed and are called on to act as mediators in drunken arguments during the games
Though it might be more sedate today but the weather is excellent out here this morning.

I am getting too old to put up with the "havoc" created by the type of public that the management of all county clubs are looking for. Because they are loaded with disposable cash their antics are welcomed. I suspect that not many of them are sober enough to understand what is happening in the game.
Membership needs to be clearly defined - an amount for those who only want to watch 4 day and 50 over games, and a separate one for T20 tip and run. I believe that is exactly what Somerset has now. Good - the tip and run antics can be set up for those wanting a cabaret (profitable thank goodness). I just can't bring myself to call it cricket, although what on earth the 100 ball idiocy can be called is another matter - it should for only for Mums and their kids, and they can call it.
I cannot find the enthusiasm to take my seat (Life Member) on Gimblett Hill. Those who like it enjoy it but count me out - my seat is yours..

I think they should call it exactly that, Old Boy - The Idiocy. That should be the name of the city based folly.

Lots of kids come Old Boy!
Few of them are drunk or spending huge amounts of money - give them an exciting spectacle and they may come back many times before they start to drink and have a healthy respect for the game before they hit 18.
T20 has a function - it isn't always to give the smoking, drinking and gambling set something to do between the soaps on the TV.
I see no point in the '100' but I do see a vital function for the game of cricket provided by the T20 short format. It has to be managed and marketed in a really intelligent way - that is where the problem is because it isn't all about money, except to the central body of English and Welsh Cricket unfortunately,

You are probably right - its just me getting too old I expect. I have five young grandsons. As far as the kids I see at the cricket - a lot of them are not interested in the cricket - they prefer their own games behind the stands. Hey Ho! Nice weather for it anyway!.

I am surprised that the club haven’t produced a questionaire for everyone at T20 to complete. I wonder what the majority want from their three hour visit costing around £50. I feel it could all go belly-up in another few seasons especially if it stays as expensive and, as we are promised, becomes second-class.

It is Lee Cooper's legacy to the club; a poor appointment in the first place leaving behind a lot of disgruntled and unhappy members in the process.
