Warwickshire will be without England fast bowler Olly Stone against Somerset when the county championship resumes at Edgbaston on Sunday. The county announced today that he will miss the rest of the season with a stress fracture of his back.

However, the Midlands county may include fellow quickie Ethan Brookes, who claimed both runs and wickets in the Second XI win over their Worcestershire counterparts this week. England Under-19 batsman Dan Mousley, who scored a century in the same match, is also under consideration.

I think Brooks will play over Timmy at 11 but otherwise i concur!

Looking increasingly like Josh's season ended at Lords on May25!

Unlikely to force his way into T20 squad now and if Lewis comes back for September i dont see him in the last 3, especially if we go double spin for some too.

Yes it is strange how Josh has disappeared from the First team squad for no immediayely obvious reason after the injury seemed fixed (loss of form).

It’s not that strange, given that he posted an average of 54 in favourable bowling conditions in 3 early season games.

Personally, I hope that TG again retains his place, ahead of Brooks. Might well be a low-scoring game on a turning track and, hence, can’t afford expensive overs of seam in that situation.

Edgbaston is good for swing so it might suit Brooks. On the other hand TG will have more experience of bowling at the ground.

It is very unlikely to be a big turner.
We have 2. They have 1.
They need to not lose.
Likely to be flat.....

Well it is that strange in the sense that those figures were some 3 (sorry 4) months ago and he had a much more significant white ball 50 over contribution after that (ie somewhere near now) and he was not mentioned in our T20 campaign (still on going) when the bowling was struggling for accuracy.

Don’t disagree about T20 but I was talking about red ball.

Roelof van der Merwe and Tom Lammonby, who have only played T20 matches for Somerset this season, are included in the 13-strong squad travelling to Edgbaston.

Babar Azam will make his championship debut, and Don Bess has returned from his loan spell at Yorkshire and is included in the 13.

Squad: Abell, Babar, Banton, Bartlett, Bess, Brooks, Davies, Groenewald, Hildreth, Lammonby, Craig Overton, Jamie Overton, van der Merwe.

Reasons why they are both there. I think they got more out of TL than they expected in T20. The info was that they see Tom in red ball primarily. RvdM for slow option and Dom will play one would imagine

I think both Dom and VDM likely to play as Edgbaston has turned all season.

Still no Warwickshire team news, rumour is they are still trying to find 11 fit players!

Rvdm to play for me too and bat 7.
On paper strengthens the tail but a long time since any red ball runs.
If a photo i saw is correct it looks like a ladies boundary size on one side, i could be feilding at gully in my seat!

Babar is a 4/5 so i see him batting there.
Hildy seems fixed on 3 full stop.
Assume TA will stay opening & George wont so its SD or Banton up top?
The new club batting policy appears to be oldies go first so.....

Looking forward to some proper cricket & a full trip to an excellent ground & facilities.
Bat first bat big then set the twins on them!

No Lamb for Warks plus they’ve got Brooke’s playing twice so they must be struggling.
