Hampshire - The Final Countdown

Here goes for a very big week, I've changed a few of the words from the original song:

We're leaving together,
But still it's farewell
And maybe we'll come back
Champions, who can tell?
I guess there is no one to blame
We've never won it (never won it)
Will things ever be the same again?

It's the final countdown
The final countdown

We're heading for Hampshire (Hampshire)
And still we stand tall
'Cause maybe they've seen us (seen us)
And welcome us all, yeah
With Essex at home to go
And ciders to down (tooo down)
I'm sure that we'll sing Blackbird so,

It's the final countdown
The final countdown

Very good SLLL. I nominate you to sing it solo as the players walk onto the field on day one.

Hampshire web site confirms a live stream will be available at ageasbowl.com/cricket

Hampshire will still be without injured leg-spinner Mason Crane tomorrow, but include 20-year-old opening batsman Felix Organ, who took his first five-fer with his off-spin bowling in the comprehensive defeat of Surrey at the Ageas Bowl in mid-week.

Squad: Vince (c), Northeast, Fuller, Organ, Holland, Barber, Dawson, Abbott, Alsop, McManus, Edwards, Donald, Stevenson, Came.

Our squad has Cove in for Brooks. Will we play both spinners?

Jack Brooks is still not fully fit, and his place in the 13-man squad is taken by the now available Craig Overton.

Squad: Abell (c), Banton, Bartlett, Bess, Davey, Davies, Gregory, Groenewald, Hildreth, C. Overton, J. Overton, van der Merwe, Vijay.

Tim G will presumably miss out again; mighty tough on whoever else gets left out.

Not far for Jack to travel down to the Rosebowl πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

Pity Mason Crane isn't available for Hampshire. I think even I might have enjoyed batting against a bowler who has taken 5 wickets at an average of 107 in this season's County Championship!

Thanks Grizzzly, but I'll be making some last minute changes to my fantasy team. Is Jack playing?

Presumably Jack is available if required?

Looking at the forecast Monday cloudy all day followed by 3 glorious sunny days . Might be worth bowling first with Lewis Cove Jove and Davey and look to score big on day 2

Jack no chance.
Would not surprise me at all if he is on rest during Essex match either, never trust ECB!

Craig in for a spinner today surely.
Bat first all day long for me if its flat.
We control games superbly with any sort of score and our fantastic attack.
Roll on 10.30am, my 6am alarm will be met by huge excitement for the trip down.
This is getting real now. With 1 or 2 strong days at Ageas & Chelmsford we vould be within touching distance.....

Surely WSM the ECB has no hold on any player without a central contract. They can advise a player he needs rest but not control his actions totally.

I doubt Jason would change his thought process anyway. His biggest conundrum could be which spin bowler to play.Roelof was probably the pick against Yorkshire, and if that’s the case it might be the last we see of Dom.

As Nelliec says, I think it might be best to put them in today. It's cloudy and muggy just along the coast here in Sussex and the forecast today is for cloudy conditions and even the possibility of a shower, followed by three days of sunshine. I know they say always bat first, but I 'm not sure about that today.
Difficult decision for Tom

So, the decision was not Tom's to make.

Hampshire won the toss and decided to bat.

Toss delayed at Chelmsford

Somerset wanted to bat, lost the toss and field.

Start delayed at Chelmsford for bad light. Sounds like a day to bowl

Two spinners, no Jamie and a preference for batting first suggests not much pace in the pitch and possibly a good toss to win - but is there such a thing against Lewis on this season's form?
According to the Hants website there's supposed to be a live stream but blowed if I can get it to work.
