Oh (not) to be at Edgbaston, where Sibley and Hain have so far put on 32 in 30 overs. Hain has 7 of those off 84 balls.

But ... they're still there.

In a perverse way, I'd quite like that Adelaide!

Be interesting to know the background to what is going on there.

It's a bit of a relegation battle, so maybe Notts are throwing the ball well outside off stump, in the hope Warwickshire go after it, but it's very attritional

Edit to add- Thinking about it, one of Peter Moores' theories used to be, 'Bowl three maiden overs in a row, and the next over will bring a wicket' (batsman feeling the pressure to score.

But if Notts are deliberately bowling negatively, they are currently being out manoeuvred.

Ryan Higgins 199 for Glos against Leics, but game destined to be a draw.

Kent beat Notts, who are bottom of Div 1 by 285 runs

Harry Podmore 5-41
Ollie Rayner 2-13 (bowled 16 overs, of which 12 were maidens. He sounds useful)

And Ryan Higgins' 199 was preceded by 180 for Neil Dexter for Leica in the same match. Career bests for both of them.

Notts have taken their customary 3 points from a championship match, as they lost to Surrey by 167 runs.

The DOC promoted his non batting wicket-keeping son to 3, and he rewarded his dad with 6.

Sussex are about to lose to Lancashire, and don't appear to be a serious promotion candidate anymore.

Notts have 48 points from 10 completed games, so an average of 4.8 points per match is truly appalling.

Not only that, but somewhere along the way (not sure if it was this match) they've had a point deducted for a slow over rate.

Peter Moores should really phone Gus and ask if he can have Don Shelley on loan, after all, Gus never refuses a reasonable request!

Hard to know what has gone wrong with Sussex. They lose to Durham and Northants. They then collapse to Lancashire's spinners, concede best part of 500 and promptly collapse top the seamers before a bit of long handle reduced the margin of defeat. Jason Gillespie undoing the coaching reputation he built up at Yorkshire.

Notts were dreadful on a turning deck against Virdi and Batty. Saw all 3 days and they never looked in the game. It was good to see days with more than 100 overs in though!

Now, do I risk Chesterfield tomorrow?

Tom Smith currently 82 no for Glos having come in at 4, and I don't think he was a nightwatchman.

Headed up to Chesterfield for the end of Derby v Northants today. Lace got out early to an uppish shot, potentially one which stopped a bit on him.

Fynn Hudson-Prentice continues to impress when I've seen him.

If we dont go up, can we have a game at Chesterfield and one at Cheltenham?

This is like something out of one of those docusoaps.

This is the fill eleven minute version of the above.

It concentrates on Notts cc campaign to date.

i'm sure we all wonder what coaches and DOC's say in the changing room, and quite honestly neither Moores or Newell say anything that we couldn't say (as in there are no technical insights as to where they are going wring- just top grade Bull****). Quite honestly any of us could have said the cr*p Moores and Newell came out with, so I suppose they save the real stuff for when the cameras aren't there.

Quite (unintentionally) funny though. It's like a spoof comedy docu-soap following a fictitious cricket team who are bottom of the league.

Gloucestershire beat Leicstershire with three balls to spare, so Gloucs now have 106 points (and a game in hand).

Gloucestershire and Worcestershire have started their four day match at Cheltenham today, so by Wednesday night they will have completed ten games like everyone else.

Tom Smith clearly IS considered a front line batsman, as he has just come in at 5, ahead of Ryan Higgins (who is clearly not as good!)

79 not out today for Tom smith, out of a Gloucs total of 339-7.

Someone called Higgins made 76.

Gloucestershire beat Worcestershire by 13 runs, moving Gloucestershire up to 129 points, and joint second place on 129 points.

we are sixth on 114, with everyone now having completed ten games.

Kent 40 all out #always someone worse off than yourself.

A look at Nottinghamshire's first match of the season confirms Joe Clarke scored 112 and 97 not out in that game.

So, 209 runs in the first game and 175 runs in the next 9 games.

That surely is the absolute extreme example of, 'He's quality. He'll come through in the end'

Divide 175 by 17 and that is just over 10 per innings.

The other averages are mostly appalling too, but another example of 'there's always someone worse off than yourself'.

And the following week was the second trial of Alex Hepburn. Think that had quite an effect on Joe Clarke.
