On October 23, 2019 Sourav Ganguly, begins his second innings in cricket as head of the Indian Cricket...
Sourav Ganguly was unanimously elected as the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The decision was taken at the General Body Meeting in Mumbai on Wednesday after the former India Captain had filed his nomination for the post last week at the BCCI Headquarters in Mumbai. Mr. Ganguly was the only candidate who filed his nomination for the President’s post.
Along with Ganguly as President, the following were elected as the office bearers of the BCCI.
- Jay Shah: Secretary
- Arun Singh Dhumal: Treasurer
- Mahim Verma : Vice-President
- Jayesh George: Joint Secretary
India is to the ICC what the USA is to UN...That is it's the essential nation....which supplies the lion's share of the revenues...but like how the USA is often vilified in the UN... India is often demonized in the ICC. It will be Ganguly's dual mandate to heal the largely self-inflicted wounds of the BCCI within India...and at the same time, push to make India's role both in terms of finances and administration of the game commensurate with its status as the provider of the lion's share of the revenues for the global sport of cricket.
Indian Cricket Fever wishes Ganguly all the very best as he takes guard in this the second, and arguably, even more crucial innings of his cricketing career.
