Notts make changes for Northants clash

Nottinghamshire have made three changes for their Frizzell County Championship Division Two match against Northamptonshire.

Clive Rice's departure as cricket manager on Friday has left Michael Newell in charge of first-team affairs, and he has picked the side for the game at Northampton's County Ground.

Guy Welton comes in for Darren Bicknell, who is likely to be out for up to a month with a broken thumb. Out-of-form Kevin Pietersen has been replaced by Balal Shafayat. A series of niggling injuries mean that Greg Smith's place in the squad has been taken by England Under-19 off-spinner Paul McMahon.

Northamptonshire are likely to be unchanged from the side that lost to Sri Lanka. The tourists recorded an eight-wicket win on Monday, but Northants did enough to suggest their winless run in the County Championship might be coming to an end.
