Gallian and Boje shine for Notts

Leicestershire had finished on 259 for seven from their allotted overs, with Vince Wells leading the way with a fine knock of 68. The hosts then lost three wickets for 11 runs before Boje (86) and Gallian (91) started to repair the damage. They batted together for most of the innings before both wickets fell in the space of four overs. Kevin Pietersen (30 not out) and Chris Read (20 not out) finished steering the home side to victory.

Leicestershire's innings did not get off to the best start when opener Trevor Ward edged a Andrew Harris delivery into the safe hands of Gallian. Darren Stevens joined Iain Sutcliffe and the pair put on 78 for the second wicket before Sutcliffe was bowled round his legs by Stephen Randall.

The Outlaws made another breakthrough soon after when Boje accounted for Stevens, who holed out at long-leg. Neil Burns made just three before he was trapped on the crease by Randall. His dismissal brought Darren Maddy to the crease and he immediately formed a good understanding with Wells.

Maddy weighed in with some fine shots square of the wicket but he was eventually out when he came down the wicket to Usman Afzaal and chipped the ball to Guy Welton at long-on. Wells fell in the 43rd over when he was clean bowled by Paul Franks for 68. Phil DeFreitas attempted a quick run in the last over but Pietersen reacted quickly and was able to run out batting partner Robert Cunliffe.

In reply, Nottinghamshire got off to a terrible start when Welton was caught by Matthew Whiley off the bowling of DeFreitas with the score on six. Afzaal fell just five balls later when he edged a Devon Malcolm delivery and Burns took a comfortable catch. Paul Johnson then tried to cut a quick ball from Malcolm and Whiley took the catch at third man.

The game looked out of Nottinghamshire's reach, but Gallian and Boje had different ideas. Both players produced a number of superb shots as they built a fine partnership. However, Gallian was stumped by Burns off the bowling of Carl Crowe and Boje followed soon after - but the Outlaws just held their nerve to win a thrilling encounter.
