Hussain Happy To See Good Form Continue

Having gone into the ICC Champions Trophy on the back of a drawn Test series with India, England had little time to acclimatise.

But Marcus Trescothick showed no signs of discomfort as he smashed 119 in 102 balls as England made 298 for eight.

Matthew Hoggard then blew away the top order with three for 25 before Ronnie Irani rounded off a great team performance with four for 37.

"To to come out of England and [achieve this result] in our first game after sitting around for a few days was a very professional performance," said Hussain, who scored 75 himself.

"Marcus has been in good form for a while now. The batting has been going well in England in the one-day series and we carried it on here and there were some good partnerships.

"It was 10 or 20 less than we should have got but that was probably down to fatigue more than anything else and I thought we bowled and fielded well."

Hussain admitted England were far from the finished article and was aware that they must reproduce the same kind of performance in their next match against India on Sunday if they were to progress to the latter stages of the competition.

"We could probably be a bit fitter but after a hard long summer to come into this heat has been hard work, but it was good to see everyone getting a bat and putting in a professional performance," he told Sky Sports.
