Langer: We Want Ashes Whitewash

Langer will get a close look at the tourists in the three-day match on Monday ahead of the first Test which starts on November 7.

Langer says the Australians are looking for a 5-0 series whitewash, which would be the first Ashes clean sweep in 80 years.

Recent history certainly gives Steve Waugh's men a chance.

Over the past three years Australia have had whitewash series wins over Pakistan (twice), India, New Zealand, South Africa and the West Indies.

Langer also said Australia were still bitterly disappointed by missing out on the feat in the last Ashes series in England, when they lost the fourth Test at Headingley.

He said: "It is no secret that we set out to win every series 5-0 or 3-0.

"There have been quite a few whitewashes over the past few years and I know the guys were very disappointed to lose that fourth Test in England when the opportunity was there to win the series 5-0.

"You can't look too far ahead, but we will be looking to win the first Test and I am sure we will hear the same words from Steve Waugh.

"We would definitely like to win 5-0, but if England are not going out in the first Test saying they want to win every Test, then they are crazy.

"That's not arrogant - it's just how you should go into every contest."
