Caddick Strike Lifts England

Andrew Caddick pressed home England's advantage by taking a wicket early in Western Australia's second innings.

He trapped Scott Meuleman lbw for one to leave Western Australia on 16 for one at stumps on day two, trailing England by 98.

Justin Langer did not open the second innings because he was receiving treatment for a stiff neck.

Earlier a century by Nasser Hussain (117) put England in a strong position, even though they collapsed from 232 for four to 327 all out in their first innings.

Marcus Trescothick (46), Robert Key (33) and John Crawley (45) all gained valuable batting practice before the first Ashes Test.

Mark Butcher and Alec Stewart each chipped in with 29.

But England's tail failed to wag as Matt Nicholson took six wickets for 79.
