Vaughan Hopeful For First Test

Neither Vaughan or Andrew Flintoff have played a match on the tour thus far and must be involved in the warm-up match against Queensland on Saturday to play a part in the series opener.

Vaughan batted impressively enough in the nets on Thurday, but admits he is not able to run yet as well as he would like following knee surgery at the end of the season.

"I've told the England management that if we were playing a Test tomorrow I wouldn't be right, but I need a game before the first Test and it's important I do get three days' cricket under my belt," said the Yorkshire opener.

"I need time in the middle with the bat, but most importantly to get a day in the field to see how the leg responds to a full day out there."

Flintoff returned from an intensive period of rehabilitation with the Academy following his recent double hernia operation and bowled at around 80 per cent capacity.
