England's top fast bowler over the last few years, Gough has taken 228 wickets in 56 matches, including a wonderful hat-trick against Australia in 1998.

Named one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 1999, Gough has formed a formidable new-ball partnership with Andy Caddick.

Originally, it was hoped that Gough would be the "next Botham", but, the search is still on, despite Gough making 65 on debut against New Zealand.
