Ben Smith calmed Worcestershire's nerves with a sparkling half-century as they beat Yorkshire by six wickets at New Road.

The hosts wobbled early on chasing a Yorkshire's 207 for 8, losing both openers cheaply.

Graeme Hick added 29, but when he fell lbw to the part-time medium pace of Anthony McGrath, Worcestershire were rattled on 85 for three.

David Leatherdale barely bothered the scorers making only seven as the Royals continued to struggle but then Gareth Batty came out to pair Smith and the game began to turn.

Together with Smith, the Yorkshire-born allrounder put on 109 for the fourth wicket to take their side to victory.
