Mystery Signing Announced!

Nantie Hayward has been named as WCCC's overseas player for the 2003 and 2004 seasons.Hayward,25,is a genuinely quick bowler who will strike fear into many opposition batting lineups.

Hayward will eventually sign for the county when his contract with the United Cricket Board of South Africa runs out in a few months time.Once at New Road he will meet up with his International team-mate Andrew Hall who has also signed for Worcestershire.

However,rumours surrounding the deal stated that the South African selectors are unhappy with Hayward in signing this deal without speaking to them first.Hayward has been out in the International wilderness for some time before being suprisingly called up for the South African's series against Pakistan.

Speaking of signing Hayward says:

"I am really looking forward to playing County Cricket with Worcestershire. I want to perform the best I can and to help the team achieve increased success. I am confident that if I do well it will help the team do well and that we will be competing for trophies."

WCCC Chief Executive Mark Newton also spoke of his delight at signing Hayward saying how he would "give our opening attack pace and hostility as we strive for First Division status in the Frizzell County Championship."
