WCCC Start Tour In Good Form

Worcestershire got their pre-season tour to Northern Transvaal,South Africa off to a flying start with a convincing win against a Limpopo Province Invitation XI in Polokwane.

Newly elected skipper Ben Smith won the toss and decided to bat on a good looking batting track during a period of fine weather.

After 45 overs,WCCC made a total of 323 for 6 with Anurag Singh scoring an unbeaten century whilst being ably supported by Graeme Hick (77),Peters (46),Solanki (29) and Smith (24).Worcestershires formidable bowling attack then matched the performance of the batsmen by bowling out the Provincial XI for 145 within 37 overs. The star performers with the ball were Chris Liptrot,who took 4/33 off 9 overs,Matt Mason 2/33 and Kadeer Ali 2/30.

The tour,being hosted entirely by the Limpopo Youth Cricket Association based in Polokwane (Pietersberg),will now see WCCC playing their next game this coming Saturday.

Meanwhile,new signings Mark Harrity and Nantie Hayward are expected to meet up with the squad for the first time on Saturday morning.
