Leatherdale Benefit Game

A benefit game in aid of David Leatherdale was played on Sunday at Colwall.The game matched a full strength Worcestershire side against Herefordshire in a 45 over per side game.
Batting first,Worcestershire made 282 for 5 with notable scores coming from Anurag Singh (71),Ben Smith (78) and Graeme Hick (20) whilst the benefit boy made 16. The pick of the Herefordshire bowlers was Shahid Ahmed with 2 for 54 off 13 overs.
Worcestershire backup wicketkeeper James Pipe then opened the innings for Herefordshire and made 18 before being caught by Nantie Hayward off Kabir Ali.Kabir Ali was clearly the better of the Worcestershire bowlers as he finished with figures of 2 for 13 off 7 overs.Nantie Hayward opened the bowling with Kabir and bowled his four overs for 23 without success, Mark Harrity took one for 20 off 7 and Gareth Batty and Vikram Solanki each took a wicket.
Herefordshire made a total of 127 for 6 before drizzle and bad light brought the game to a premature finish after 37 overs of Herefordshires innings.
