Final Warm Up Game Report

Worcestershires final warm up game has been played at Ombersley where an in-house squad game saw two competitive sides battle it out.

The whole squad,plus a few academy players,were split into two teams,the 'A' squad and the 'B' squad.Batting first,the 'A's' reached 245 for 9 off their 50 overs.Notable scores coming from Vikram Solanki (60 off 67 balls) and Kadeer Ali (53 off 90 balls) saw the pair put on 99 for an impressive opening stand.The 'A' squads progress was slowed somewhat however due to impressive spells of bowling from Daryl Mitchell (3 for 12) and David Leatherdale (2 for 44.Kabir Ali however came to the rescue towards the end to smash 51 from just 44 balls to add some fresh impetus to the 'A' squads innings.

Chasing 246 to win,the 'B' squad suffered an early setback after losing two quick wickets but the ever dependable Graeme Hick came to the rescue with 88 from106 balls whilst David Leatherdale provided adequate support with 77 from 104 balls.Matt Mason impressed with the ball for the 'A' squad and finished up with figures of 2 for 36 off his 10 overs but the ‘B’ squad strolled home with 5 overs to spare by 7 wickets.

As Worcestershire prepare for Fridays opening game against Hampshire at New Road (11am start),the squad contains no major injury concerns allowing Tom Moody to field a full strength side.
